Features
Overview: The Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd generation) lets you know when
doors or windows are open. The two-piece sensors connect wirelessly to the Ring
Alarm Base Station via Z-Wave, which gives it a range of 250 feet. Sensors can
be placed on any door or window in your home. The sensors work exclusively with
the
Ring
Alarm Security System.
Operation: The Contact Sensor consists of a sensor and a strong
magnet. The sensor and magnet should be installed side-by-side, one on the door
or window, and the other on the door/window frame. They should be no more than 1" apart when the door or window is closed. When the magnet and sensor are
separated (when the door or window is opened), the sensor detects a change in
the magnetic field, and triggers the sensor to send an alert to your mobile
device.
Installation: The two Contact Sensor components have strong 2-sided tape for attaching to the door or window and its frame. Each component comes apart for mounting with 2 screws (not included).
Power Requirements: The Ring Contact Sensor is powered by two, user-replaceable CR2032 coin-cell batteries (included). Typical battery life is up to 3 years, depending on usage.
