It includes a 10-digit keypad, and offers multiple ways to lock and unlock, including through a smartphone app. The lock includes DoorSense®, which lets you know if the door is open or closed. The lock replaces the existing deadbolt on most standard US entry doors, and requires only a screwdriver. The Assure Lock 2 is powered by 4 "AA" alkaline batteries (included), and is available in Oil Rubbed Bronze, Satin Nickel, and Black Suede.
Bluetooth Smart: The Yale Assure Lock 2 features built-in Bluetooth Smart technology that lets you lock and unlock your door from the Yale Access app on your iPhone or Android phone or Apple Watch.
Optional Wi-Fi: The Assure Lock 2 supports the optional Smart Module, which supports Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz). You can add a Smart Module to your lock at any time, which gives you the ability to lock or unlock your door from anywhere.
Door Compatibility: You can install the Yale Assure Lock 2 on doors with a thickness of 1-3/8" to 2-1/4". The door should have a backset distance of 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (from the edge of the door to the center of the bore hole), with a face bore hole of 2-1/8" or 1-1/2" and an edge bore hole of 1".
Installation Overview: Once you have removed the existing door hardware, you should use the included template (in the Installation Guide) to be sure your door is compatible (thickness, backset placement, bore hole). The new deadbolt latch is installed in the bore hole, and the strike plate on the door frame. There are two components of the door lock — the external keypad, and the internal thumbturn lock. The external unit is mounted to the door and attached to the inside mounting plate on the other side with the provided bolts. (Note, there are three lengths to choose from based on the door thickness.) The two units plug together via the 10-pin cable attached to the keypad unit. The internal lock mounts to the mounting plate via pre-installed screws. Once the hardware is installed and tested mechanically, you can insert the 4 "AA" batteries into the slot in the battery compartment. Programming the Smart Lock involves setting the Master PIN and as many User PINs as you need.
Entry Codes: Once you setup the Assure Lock 2, you can create, use, update, and maintain entry codes using the Yale Access app. Entry codes can be between 4 and 6 digits. The Assure Lock 2 can hold up to 250 entry codes within the Yale Access app.
Access Options: There are multiple ways to unlock your Assure Lock 2: use the keypad to enter your access code, use the Yale Access app, or voice commands (Siri/Apple HomeKit).
DoorSense: The DoorSense module uses magnetic fields to determine whether your door is open or closed. It can be installed on the door frame surface (within 1.5" of the lock), or flush mounted into a drilled 5/8" diameter x 1/2" deep hole. The module should be aligned with the Yale logo on the lock.
Auto-Lock: The Auto-Lock feature automatically locks your door for you. It can be set to lock on a timer between 30 seconds and 30 minutes. When used with DoorSense, the door will not lock until it is in the closed position. The parameters of Auto-Lock are programmed in the Yale Access App.
Yale Access App: The Yale Assure Lock 2 works hand-in-hand with the Yale Access App. You can perform the initial setup with the app, including creating entry codes and programming Auto-Lock. The app lets you view previous activity (i.e. who locked and unlocked the door). You can also manage your Yale Delivery Box or Smart Cabinet Lock from the app, as well. The app is compatible with Apple iPhone and iPod touch (iOS 14.0 or later) and Apple Watch. It also works with Android devices running Android 8.0 and up.
Voice Assistants: The Yale Assure Lock 2 with Bluetooth can be accessed via voice commands through Apple HomeKit (Siri).
Battery Override: When battery power is low, the keypad\’s LED indicator will flash blue, and the gear button on the keypad will flash amber or red. Should you completely lose battery power, you can touch a 9-volt battery to the Battery Override terminals on the bottom of the keypad to wake up the lock, enter your PIN, and unlock the door. Once inside, you can replace the four AA batteries in the indoor unit.
