Overview: The Withings Body Smart helps you achieve your health and fitness goals by tracking your weight and analyzing your body metrics. The Wi-Fi-enabled scale not only gives you accurate weight measurements, but helps you understand fat, muscle, bone, and body mass indices. Body Smart recognizes up to 8 different users, allowing everyone in your household to monitor their health. When Body Smart is connected to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, you can view the health data from the scales in the free Withings Health Mate app to reach your goals. The Body Smart scale comes in black and white.

Design: Body Smart is equipped with four weight sensors which provide accurate and consistent weight measurements from 11 pounds to 440 pounds (5-200 kg) in 0.1 pound increments. Your weight is measured in pounds, but can be switched kilograms, or the UK\’s stone and pounds. Body Smart features an ultra slim design with a paint-free satin casing with a 12.8" square high-strength tempered glass platform. Your health measurements are shown on the high-contrast 2.8" high-resolution color display with 320 x 240 pixels. When connected via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, the scale uploads your readings to the Withings Health Mate. If you cannot sync the scale with the app, Body Smart stores your readings (up to 16) in its internal memory. When placing Body Smart on carpet, you should attach the four snap-on feet for better accuracy.

Weight/Health Features: The Body Smart scale has the following features to help you get accurate results and track your progress:

• Position Control™: Body Smart features Position Control™ technology to help you achieve an accurate weight measurement. If your weight isn\’t evenly distributed on the scale, arrows are displayed to indicate the direction you should lean to stabilize your weight.
• Precision Technology™: To measure your body composition, Body Smart uses an undetectable electric current that runs along electrodes embedded in the surface of the glass platform. Precision Technology™ utilizes multiple frequencies to determine the amount of fat, bone, and muscle in your body. This Multi-Frequency Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (MF-BIA) can also estimate extracellular water, intracellular water, and total body water.
• Advanced Body Composition: Not only will Body Smart keep up with your weight trends, it provides a comprehensive view of your body composition:
  • Key Body Metrics: When you weigh yourself, Body Smart provides the percentages of your weight is made up of muscle, fat, and bone mass.
  • Hydration: As a measure of your hydration, Body Smart indicates your percentage of water weight vs. lean mass.
  • Visceral Fat: It can calculate your visceral fat level–the amount of fat stored around your organs–and report if your level is normal or high.
  • Metabolism: The scale can estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate, or how many calories you burn at rest. Based on this data, your Metabolic Age is calculated to compare your rate to users in the same age range.
  • BMI: Your Body Mass Index, or BMI, is a key health indicator, based on the ratio of your weight and height.
  • Standing Heart Rate: Body Smart\’s sensors can measure your heart rate (from 30 to 230 beats per minute) as you stand on the scale. Over time, you can monitor your heart rate as a gauge of your overall cardiovascular fitness.
• Weight Trend: When you step on the scale, your weight is shown on the display. Body Smart automatically recognizes the user based on their weight. (If users have similar weight measurements, you\’ll be prompted to choose the correct name.) If you have activated the Weight Trend screen, you\’ll also see a graph showing your last eight measurements, and whether you\’ve gained or lost weight since your last measurement. A detailed graph of your weight history can also be viewed in the Withings Health Mate app.
• Baby Mode: Baby Mode lets you weigh your baby by weighing yourself while holding the baby. To use this mode, you must create a profile for your baby, and enter the height and weight of the baby, then enter your weight while holding the baby. Baby Mode is for infants and children between 7 and 33 pounds.
• Pregnancy Mode: Body Smart and Health Mate can provide an enriching experience for pregnant women, including easy weight tracking, advice and tips throughout the pregnancy. On the Health Mate timeline, pregnant women will receive an overview of the week, with cumulative weight gain, and how it compares to your personalized recommendations. Obstetrician-reviewed health information relevant to the current week of pregnancy will be sent to the user\’s profile on the app.
• Eyes-Closed Mode: If desired, you can hide your weight numbers from the display screen. If Eyes-Closed Mode is enabled, Body Smart will display motivational messages instead.

Weather: The Body Smart scale can display the day\’s weather when you weigh yourself. The weather forecast is based on the IP address of the scale, however, it isn\’t always correct. The app will allow you to change it if the location is incorrect.

Power: The scale is powered by 4 "AAA" alkaline batteries (included), with an average battery lifetime of approximately 15 months.

Connectivity: Body Smart can be connected to your smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n – 2.4 GHz) or Bluetooth (Smart Ready). During setup, you\’ll need to create an account, and enter your birthday, gender, height, and current weight. If you desire, you can enter a target weight, and each time you weigh, the Withings Health Mate app will provide your progress toward your goal.

Withings Health Mate: To make the most of your health data, you can download the Withings Health Mate app to your smartphone or tablet. The app pulls data from other connected Withings health devices, including the temporal thermometer, sleep monitor, and smart watch. Using the app, you can track your weight, physical activity, heart rate and cardiac health, sleep, and other health metrics. The app can also notify you of possible chronic conditions when the data shows potential for concern. The Health Mate app is compatible with iPhone and iPad running iOS 15.0 or later. The app is also available for Android devices running version 9.0 and up.

Withings+: Withings+ takes your health journey to the next level. This subscription-based health improvement service uses the data provided from your connected Withings devices to provide targeted guidance to help you reach your health goals. Starting with a complete health assessment, Withings+ can provide a baseline using the health data (weight, height, BMI, heart rate, sleep quality, etc.) uploaded from your connected Withings health devices. Combining your Activity, Body, Heart, and Sleep Scores, you\’ll receive an overall weekly Health Improvement Score, as well as suggested recipes, exercises, and activities. The guidance you receive is designed in collaboration with doctors and other health experts. As you progress, the app will notify you and award you with badges as you reach another level. Your personal health data is protected and kept safe by Withings\’ compliance and security measures. Withings+ is available by subscription for $9.99 per month or $99.99 annually (as of January 2024)
