Product Research

Features

Overview: The QuietComfort Ultra headphones feature world-class noise cancellation, superior build quality, and a new Immersive Audio feature. These lightweight headphones are made with premium materials for maximum comfort and durability. QuietComfort Ultra comes with an audio cable, a USB-C charging cable, and a zippered storage case.

Active Noise Cancelling: The QuietComfort Ultra achieves its iconic noise-cancelling through a combination of passive and active noise cancelling. The combination of the over-ear headphone design and clamping force of the headband produces a natural reduction of external noise inside the earcups. Microphones located inside and outside of each ear cup continually
measure, compare, and react to outside noise. The proprietary noise cancellation
circuitry then sends an out-of-phase signal to
effectively cancel out the noise. The circuitry also goes the extra mile to eliminate the
soft hiss that occurs with most electronics. Pressing the Multi-function button on the right earcup switches between the following modes: Quiet Mode for full noise cancelling, Aware Mode to let in some of your surroundings while you still enjoy your audio content, or Immersion to put the music out in front of you. In the Bose Music app, you can create up to seven of your own custom modes, such as Wind Block, based on your listening preferences and environment.

Immersive Audio: Bose Immersive Audio is a new spatialized audio mode that provides more realism by moving the sound out of your head and placing it in front of you. You can use Immersive Audio with any streaming content, giving it a richer sound quality and improved clarity. Immersive Audio makes the audio sound like it\’s coming from two stereo speakers placed in front of you. With the Motion setting, the speakers follow the movement of your head, keeping the soundstage in front of you. This is the default setting in Immersion Mode. The Still setting must be selected in the Bose Music app. It keeps the "speakers" stationary when you move your head for a more realistic listening experience. A few seconds after you stop moving your head, the soundstage recenter your position. Using Immersive Audio requires more battery power, thus reducing the estimated battery life when in use. When you take a phone call, Immersive Audio is temporarily turned off, and returns to the previous setting after the call.

ActiveSense: While in Aware Mode, you can take advantage of Bose\’s ActiveSense technology. Aware Mode with ActiveSense lets you hear your surroundings while reducing unwanted noise. When sudden or loud noises occur near you, the noise cancellation increases to automatically suppress it. Once the noise stops, noise cancellation automatically returns to its previous setting. ActiveSense can only be enabled in the Bose Music app.

Bluetooth 5.3: The QuietComfort Ultra
features Bluetooth 5.3 wireless technology that lets you listen to your favorite
music and make phone calls free from wires. Multi-point technology lets you connect to two mobile devices simultaneously. This allows you to watch a movie on your tablet while maintaining a connection to your phone. Bose software lets you seamlessly transition between the two devices when a call comes in. You can store up to eight devices in the headphone device list so you can quickly pair with any of them. If you have an Android device, you can connect using FastPair. QuietComfort Ultra also accesses the native Voice Assistant on your device (Siri, Google, Bixby).

Audio Cable: The headphones include a 42" audio cable so you can listen to your audio even if a Bluetooth connection isn\’t available, or the battery is depleted. When the cable is plugged into the headphones, the Bluetooth connection and the microphone on the earcups are disabled.

SimpleSync: Bose\’s SimpleSync technology lets you connect the headphones to a Bose Smart Soundbar or Bose Smart Speaker to listen in private. SimpleSync uses Bluetooth to connect, giving you a range of up to 30 feet. You can control the headphone volume independently of the Smart Soundbar or Speaker. Compatible products include Smart Soundbar (models 900, 700, 600), Smart Speaker 500, Home Speaker 500 and 300, and Bose Portable Smart Speaker or Portable Home Speaker. You can also connect the headphones and speakers using the Bose Music app.

Bose Music App: The Bose Music app makes it easy to connect
to your Bluetooth devices, and switch between them whenever you desire. It
improves your wireless experience by helping you pair your headphones to
multiple devices by a simple swipe. The app lets you adjust the Immersive Audio settings from Motion to Still, and set a shortcut so you can cycle through the settings on the headphones. You can also get software updates, choose your Voice Prompts language, view the battery status, get product
tips, and adjust personalized settings from the app. The adjustable EQ lets you adjust the bass, midrange, and treble to shape the music the way you like it. The free Bose Music app is
available for download from the App store for Apple devices running iOS 15.0 or
later, and from Google Play for Android devices (version varies with device).

On-board Controls: The QC Ultra wireless headphones
feature a volume strip and a Multi-function button on the bottom of the right ear cup. Sliding your finger up or down the strip raises or lowers the volume. The Multi-function button controls
music playback, including play/pause (single-press), skip forward (double-press), and skip backward (triple-press). The
button also lets you answer (single-press), end or reject a call (double-press). When on a call and a second call comes in, you can put the first call on hold and answer the second (single -press) or reject the second call (double-press). Activating your mobile device\’s voice assistant requires setting a shortcut in the Bose Music app.

Voice Prompts: Voice Prompts in the headphones guide you
through the Bluetooth pairing process, powering on and off, and for battery
status updates. You can choose the language for the voice prompts in the Bose Music app.

On-head Detection: Sensors on the headphones identify when they are being worn and when they are taken off. If you are listening to audio with the headphones and you lift the right earcup or take the headphones off, the music will automatically pause. Replacing the right earcup or putting on the headphones resumes the audio playback. If a call comes in while the headphones are off, putting them on will automatically answer the call.

Battery Powered: The headphones have a built-in Lithium-ion
rechargeable battery, which powers Bluetooth, Quiet Mode, Immersion Mode, and Aware Mode.
Each time you power on the headphones, you\’ll receive a voice prompt with the remaining battery charge expressed as a percentage. When the battery in near depletion, you\’ll get a "Battery Low" prompt. The battery charges in about 3 hours via the supplied USB cable using a 5V / 0.5A USB charging port (or one with a higher amperage). A fully charged battery will power the headphones for up to 24 hours when
connected wirelessly (Bluetooth and ANC). In Immersive Audio mode, the battery life is 18 hours. A 15-minute Quick Charge can power the headphones for up to 2.5 hours (2 hours with Immersive Audio). When the battery is depleted, you can still listen to
music by plugging in the supplied audio cable.

High Quality Materials: The Bose QC Ultra wireless headphones
are crafted with premium materials for lightweight comfort and durability. The
plush ear cups are molded with glass-filled nylon instead of plastic for a lightweight
feel and for strength. The stainless steel headband springs and pivots are built
to last for years. The ear cushions are made of
synthetic protein leather with a silicone bead to passively block external
noise.

Folding Ear Cups: The QC Ultra headphones feature hinged ear cups that
fold and rotate for compact storage in the supplied carrying case.
