5.0.2ch Active Soundbar Speaker:  The Sony HT-A9000 active soundbar speaker envelops you in immersive 5.0.2 channel surround sound with its 13 driver array configuration and advanced audio technologies. The 13 driver array consists of stereo left and right front drivers, a discrete center channel, side-firing left and right surround drivers, plus left and right height channel drivers. The discrete front and center channels provide precise stereo imaging with high vocal clarity, while the surround and height channels reflect sound off the wall and ceiling for realistic surround and overhead effects. All thirteen drivers are powered by a S-Master HX digital amplifier for powerful, dynamic sound.

  • 13 Driver Array: The soundbar\’s left and right front channels each consist of a 0.375" soft-dome tweeter and 1.8125" x 3.625" X-Balanced cone woofer, while the dedicated center channel features a 0.875" soft-dome tweeter and two 1.8125" x 3.625" X-Balanced cone woofers. The left and right surround channels of the soundbar each include a side-firing 0.625" beam tweeter and 1.8125" x 2.25" X-Balanced cone woofer, while the left and right height channels each consist of an up-firing 1.8125" x 2.25" X-Balanced cone woofer.
  • X-Balance Driver Design: The 13 driver array\’s front, center, surround, and height channel woofers employ Sony\’s X-Balanced speaker design. The unique rectangular shape of these speakers maximizes the diaphragm area for more punchy bass. It also reduces driver excursion while maintaining sound pressure, resulting in less distortion and greater vocal clarity.
  • S-Master HX Digital Amplifier: The HT-A9000 active soundbar speaker employs Sony\’s S-Master HX digital amplifier that delivers 585 watts of power with each driver receiving 45 watts of power. Using a simplified, full digital signal path, the S-Master HX digital amplifier reproduces digital audio signals without the multiple analog stages required by conventional amplifiers. The result is not just more power, but significantly less distortion caused by heat build-up.
  • Quad Passive Radiators: The soundbar\’s four front-firing woofers are paired with four passive radiators (two on the top and two on rear of soundbar) to generate deep and impactful bass.

Wireless Powered Sub: The Sony SA-SW5 wireless powered subwoofer utilizes a front-firing 7\” woofer and down-firing passive radiator to create deep, powerful pass. With proprietary Sony technologies, including S Magnetic Circuit and Separated Notch Edge, the SA-SW5 delivers deep, rich bass and clear low frequency sound. The front-firing 7\” subwoofer is powered by a built-in Sony designed S-Master digital amplifier rated at 300 watts (RMS) for dynamic, distortion-free bass. The S-Master Digital Amplifier is highly efficient, runs cools, and delivers clear bass with less distortion.

  • S (Sigma) Magnetic Circuit: Sony\’s proprietary technology, the S (Sigma) Magnetic Circuit enables deep, powerful bass by maximizing the magnetic force that drives the voice coil. By contrast, conventionally shaped circuits let much of this magnetic force leak away.
  • Separated Notch Edge: Another Sony proprietary technology, Separated Notch Edge improves vertical amplitude symmetry, an essential for clear sound quality. It achieves this using concentric cuts on the edge of the rubber surround, which help to control the stress inside and outside the edge of the diaphragm.

360 Spatial Sound Mapping: Experience an immersive surround sound experience thanks to Sony\’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology that creates 5 phantom speakers in front of you and reflects sound off the ceiling and walls, enabling cinema-style surround sound from a single soundbar. By using phantom speakers, 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology achieves a wider coverage than conventional virtual surround systems, allowing more people in the room to enjoy the same immersive surround sound experience. You can even add optional wireless rear speakers (SA-RS3S or SA-RS5; sold separately) for an even more expansive sound stage. Working with the rear speakers, the HT-A9000 creates up to 11 phantom speakers, including speakers behind you for that authentic cinema feel. Only one set of wireless speakers can be connected to the Sony HT-A9000.

Soundfield Optimization: The HT-A9000 features built-in microphones that intelligently measures the position of the soundbar, vertically and horizontally, to optimize the sound to your room.  Sound Field Optimization not only calibrates sound based on speaker position, it also takes your room\’s acoustics into account, and your listening position too. Sound Field Optimization analyses your room\’s acoustic characteristics, then uses advanced signal processing to overwrite them with those of a movie theater. Using the Sony Bravia Connect app (for Apple iOS and Android OS) and the built-in microphone in your compatible smartphone or tablet device, the Sony HT-A9000 can detect your position in the room to optimize the sound based on your main listening position. Sound Field Optimization can also be applied to Sony\’s optional wireless powered sub and surround speakers (sold separately).

Note: You can also adjust height, surround (optional). and subwoofer (optional) levels manually.

Immersive Surround with Upmixing: The Sony HT-A9000 supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X movie & music soundtracks, along with IMAX Enhanced certification and Sony\’s 360 Reality Audio. Sony\’s new upmixer feature delivers rich surround sound even from stereo content. Its innovative algorithm extracts and redistributes individual audio objects to immerse you in 3D sound. While upmixing, AI Sound Separation processing detects human voices and makes them sound clearer.

  • Dolby Atmos: With Dolby Atmos sound comes alive from all directions, including overhead, to fill your home theater with astonishing clarity, power, detail, and depth. Rather than being constrained to channels, sounds exist as individual entities that are precisely placed and moved in three-dimensional space. A new sensation of height immerses you in the action, creating a full audio atmosphere and realistically depicting objects moving overhead. Dolby Atmos renders everything from dialogue to quiet scenes to whirlwind action with astonishing clarity, richness, detail, and depth. It all comes together in sound that excites your senses and inspires your emotions to deliver the full impact of entertainment.
  • DTS:X: DTS:X is the next generation object-based, multi-dimensional audio technology from DTS. Unbound from channels, DTS:X conveys the fluid movement of sound to create an incredibly rich, realistic and immersive soundscape – in front of, behind, beside and above the audience – more accurately than ever before. DTS:X offers the ability to automatically adapt the audio to the speaker layout that best fits your space.
  • IMAX Enhanced (future firmware update): IMAX Enhanced certification is obtained when the HT-A9000 is used in combination with Sony\’s SA-RS3S or SA-RS5 rear speakers and a Sony  SA-SW3 or SA-SW5 subwoofer (all sold separately). IMAX Enhanced is a licensing and certification program for TVs, projectors, and sound systems. It meets a carefully prescribed set of performance requirements from IMAX and DTS engineers and Hollywood\’s leading technical specialists to deliver IMAX digitally remastered, high-quality, and sharp 4K HDR images with powerful, immersive sound. All certified devices will carry the IMAX Enhanced logo.
  • 360 Reality Audio: The HT-A9000 is compatible with Sony\’s 360 Reality Audio. 360 Reality Audio is a new music experience that uses Sony’s object-based spatial acoustic technology to create a highly realistic sound field that makes you feel as if you have entered the space where an artist is performing live. 360 Reality Audio content can be played on the soundbar system by connecting an AV device that is compatible with 360 Reality Audio to the soundbar system via HDMI.

Note: The Sony HT-A9000 also supports Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, DTS-HD High-Resolution Audio, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-ES, and DTS.

HDMI eARC: The HT-A9000 active soundbar speaker is equipped with a single HDMI eARC/ARC jack. ARC (Audio Return Channel) and eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) allows audio to be sent from your compatible TV to the soundbar system through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio and video to your television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to your television.

  • eARC will support uncompressed audio formats like Dolby Atmos (Dolby TrueHD), DTS:X, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, DTS HD Master Audio, and 2/5.1/7.1ch PCM.
  • ARC is limited to Dolby Atmos (Dolby Digital Plus), Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS, DTS ES, and 2/5.1/7.1ch PCM.

Notes:

  • Your TV will also need to support eARC or ARC for this feature to work. Many newer TVs will support eARC, while most older TVs only support ARC.
  • The soundbar\’s HDMI eARC/ARC jack supports audio transmission only; video transmission is not supported.

Bravia Acoustic Center Sync: When the HT-A9000 is connected to a 2021-up Sony Bravia TV with Acoustic Center Sync using the S-Center Out and supplied stereo minijack cable, both the soundbar and the TV become the center speaker in your home cinema system. Bravia Acoustic Center Sync enables the audio to precisely match what\’s on the screen for a truly immersive experience. With Acoustic Center Sync, you\’ll hear dialog from exactly where the character is standing in the scene. By precisely aligning the action and sound, your entertainment experience becomes much more immersive.

Voice & Night Modes: The HTA-9000 incorporates two Sound Effect modes – Voice Zoom 3 & Night Mode. Voice Zoom 3 powered by AI machine learning recognizes human voices and amplifies or reduces their volume so even faint dialog sounds loud and clear. Using Night mode, you can enjoy sound effects and hear the dialog clearly even at a low volume levels.

DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) Ultimate: Using Edge-AI, DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) Ultimate upscales compressed digital music files in real time, restoring acoustic details for a richer listening experience. Dynamically recognizing instrumentation, musical genres, and individual elements of each song, such as vocals or interludes, DSEE Ultimate restores the high-range sound lost in compression for a natural, more complete listening experience.

Video Section

HDMI 2.1: The Sony HT-A9000 is equipped with one HDMI input and one HDMI eARC output to connect your TV, Blu-ray player, cable/satellite receiver, and/or game console. The HDMI input and output support the latest HDMI 2.1 specifications – including 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz pass-through, HDCP 2.3, 4:4:4 color sub sampling, BT.2020 wide color space, & HDR (high dynamic range) video.

  • 8K/60Hz & 4K/120Hz Pass-Through: The HT-A9000 supports up to 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz UHD video pass-through. It will also pass 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p video signals (480i video signal are not supported).
  • HDCP 2.3: HDCP 2.3 is supported by the soundbar speaker\’s HDMI input and output. HDCP 2.3 is short for \”High bandwidth Digital Content Protection\” and is used for 4K video copyright protection for compatibility with Ultra HD Blu-ray players and 4K Satellite/Cable providers.
  • 4:4:4 Color Sub sampling: The system\’s HDMI jacks support RGB, Cyber 4:4:4 color sub sampling for more vibrant and lifelike images, as well as Cyber 4:2:2 and Cyber 4:2:0 color sub sampling. With 4:4:4, luminance (brightness) and Chroma (color) are sampled at the same rate, resulting in an RGB color palette as big as the video sampling rate for a video image with more total colors, plus greater color accuracy and detail.
  • Wide Color Gamut (BT.2020): The BT.2020 color standard delivers a much wider color gamut and represents about 75% of the total visual color spectrum, while the current Rec. 709 color standard selected as the color space for HDTVs and early generation 4K Ultra HDTVs covers only 35% of the total visual color spectrum.

Note: Use a premium high-speed 48Gbps HDMI cable for the 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz video.

HDR (High Dynamic Range): HDR (High Dynamic Range) reproduces a greater dynamic range of luminosity or brightness levels, bringing greater contrast & wider color spectrum to the screen. This increased contrast reveals the subtle nuances of the image, from detailed blacks and shadows to the brightest whites and colors, plus greater depth. Previously hidden areas of dark shadow and sunlight are now full of clarity and detail.

  • HDR 10: HDR 10 is an open standard and currently the most popular HDR format on the market. It supports 10-bit color and 1,000 nits. It uses static metadata at the start of a movie to tell the soundbar speaker and your TV that the video content is encoded using HDR.
  • HLG (Hybrid-Log Gamma): HLG (Hybrid-Log Gamma) is primarily designed for live video feed and over-the-air broadcasts. It uses no pre-encoded metadata and is backwards compatible with SIR. HLG\’s native compatibility allows much of today\’s existing SIR infrastructure to be re-used for HDR in the future.
  • Dolby Vision: Unlike HDR 10 which contains static metadata and HLG which uses not metadata, Dolby Vision adjusts brightness, color, and contrast automatically for each scene. Dynamic metadata carries information that maps every image to your TV\’s display capabilities, so you see more of what the content creator intended.

Enhanced Gaming Features: When you connect a gaming console via HDMI, you can enjoy the reduced input lag and minimized screen tearing delivered by Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) technology for an enhanced gaming experience (your gaming console and TV must also support VRR and ALLM). You also get to enjoy immersive gaming experience with optimized picture settings by Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode when connecting a 2021-up Sony Bravia TV and PlayStation 5.

AV Sync: The audio output can be delayed so that the time gap between the audio output and the visual display is minimized. This is especially helpful when you are using a large TV or a projection screen. When activated, the delay can be adjusted from 0-300ms (in 25 ms increments).

3D-Ready: The HT-A9000 is compatible with 3D-ready Blu-ray disc movies, video games and other 3D content through its HDMI connection (720p/1080i/1080p only). 3D viewing requires 3D-ready source with 3D content, 3D-ready HDTV, 3D glasses, and high-speed HDMI cable. Other 3D accessories may also be required.

Standby Pass-Through: You can conveniently access the HT-A9000 soundbar\’s HDMI input and HDMI output through your TV without having to power on the system.

You can wirelessly stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content from your Bluetooth-enabled source device (such as your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer) to the Sony soundbar speaker. You\’ll continue to control your wirelessly streamed audio and view song/artist/album information from your Bluetooth source device. The HT-A9000 soundbar has an expanded wireless Bluetooth range of 98\’

  • SSP (Secure Simple Pairing): The HT-A9000 pairs wirelessly and effortlessly with multiple Bluetooth-enabled devices and headphones (up to 9). However, only one device or headphone can be used for playback at a time. Once paired, the soundbar system will automatically re-connect to your source device or headphone when within range.
