The Smart Module measures 2.25" x 0.56" x 1.05" and weighs 0.35 ounces.
Installation: The Smart Module simply inserts into the provided slot in the indoor portion of your Yale Assure Lock or Lever. The module is powered by the four "AA" batteries included with the lock.
Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi Smart Module operates on your home\’s 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. No hub or bridge is needed. When connected, the module communicates with the Yale Access app on your smartphone or tablet, allowing you to unlock or lock your door from anywhere.
DoorSense: The included DoorSense module uses magnetic fields to determine whether your door is closed or open. The module installs adjacent to your Yale door lock, either surface-mounted on the door frame, or flush-mounted into a drilled 5/8" diameter hole in the frame. It should be aligned with the Wi-Fi Smart Module within 1-1/2 inches. When the door is closed, the magnetic field of the DoorSense module is detected. When the door is opened, the DoorSense module and the Smart Module are separated. The Yale Access app will indicate the status of the door at all times. When you decide to lock the door, the Yale Smart Lock will only lock when DoorSense has determined that the door is closed.
Yale Access App: The Yale Access App is compatible with Apple iPhone (running iOS 14.0 or later) and Apple Watch. It also works with Android devices running Android 8.0 and up. The app will seamlessly connect over the best method available, choosing between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. With the app, you can control and view the status of your Yale Assure locks. During the initial setup of your lock, you can create unique entry codes for each family member, and program the Auto-Lock and Auto-Unlock features. You can also provide temporary access to guests and service people when needed. You will receive real-time notifications each time the door is locked or unlocked, and by whom. The app also lets you manage your Yale Delivery Box or Smart Cabinet Lock as well.
Additional Features: In addition to simply locking and unlocking your Yale Assure Lock or Lever, the Wi-Fi Smart Module provides additional features, including:
- Auto-Lock: The Auto-Lock feature automatically locks the door for you. It can be set to lock on a timer between 30 seconds and 30 minutes. When used with DoorSense, the door will not lock until it is in the closed position. The parameters of Auto-Lock are programmed in the Yale Access App.
- Auto-Unlock: Auto-Unlock automatically unlocks the door as you approach your door without having to reach for your keys or your phone. The feature uses Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS technologies to sense when you\’re nearby. The Yale Access app uses Home and Away status to enable and disable Auto-Unlock. When you have traveled more than 200 meters from your home, the app goes into Away Mode and waits until you return home. When you are within 200 meters, your phone starts looking for the lock. When you\’re within 20-30 feet, and the app detects the lock, the door will Auto-Unlock and the app goes into Home Mode.
- Voice Assistants: The Wi-Fi Smart Module allows you to control the lock via voice commands through Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit (Siri).
- Third Party Functionality: The Smart Module can also be programmed to work with other smart technologies, including Samsung SmartThings and Philips Hue. For example, you can program your Philips Hue lights to come on when you unlock the door, so you\’re not coming home to a dark house.
- Activity Monitoring: The Smart Module keeps track of which access codes are used to lock or unlock the door. Assigning unique codes to family members and guests lets you know who is going in and out of your door, and at what times.
